Australia anti-terror police arrest two in Sydney
Counter-terrorism police in Sydney have arrested two men, charging one with possession of documents designed to facilitate a terrorist attack. The other suspect was charged with breaching a control order.
The arrests were related to a series of counter-terrorism raids in September, officials said.
They come after Australia's prime minister said there had been heightened "terror chatter" since a cafe siege in Sydney last week.
That saw gunman Man Haron Monis, a self-styled cleric originally from Iran, take 17 people hostage in a cafe in the city centre. A 16-hour siege followed, during which two hostages and Haron Monis were killed.
On Wednesday, Australian Federal Police Deputy Commissioner Michael Phelan said the man arrested on the terrorism charge, 20-year-old Sulayman Khalid, had documents that mentioned potential government targets.
"I am confident that we've disrupted the activity that they were planning," he said. But he added: "There is nothing that indicates at all that [there were] any specific targets or time frame in relation to this particular activity at all."
Mr Khalid, who did not apply for bail, could face up to 15 years in prison if convicted. The 21-year-old, who cannot be named for legal reasons, was also denied bail.
Judges can issue control orders against persons of interest in criminal cases, imposing restrictions on them. The 21-year-old man had breached an order preventing him from accessing certain forms of telecommunications.

# Write an article on alternative sources of energy and their problems.
What are Alternative Energy Sources?

Alternative energy encompasses all those things that do not consume fossil fuel. They are widely available and environment friendly. They cause little or almost no pollution. There have been several alternative energy projects running in various countries to reduce our dependence on traditional fossil fuels.

Solar Energy
Solar is the first energy source in the world. It was in use much earlier before humans even learn how to light a fire. Many living things are dependent on solar energy from plants, aquatic life and the animals. The solar is mostly used in generating light and heat. The solar energy coming down to the planet is affected by the orbital path of the sun and its variations within the galaxy. Solar energy is one the alternative energy source that is used most widely across the globe. About 70% of the sunlight gets reflected back into the space and we have only 30% of sunlight to meet up our energy demands. While solar energy is used for producing solar energy, it is also used for drying clothes, used by plants during the process of photosynthesis and also used by human beings during winter seasons to make their body temperature warm. Solar energy can be extracted either by Solar Thermal or using Photovoltaic (PV) Cells.

Wind power
Wind power is renewable source of energy and reduces our alliance on foreign countries for supply of oil and gas. It does not cause any air pollution and have created several jobs in last few decades. Advancement in technologies has brought down the cost of setting up wind power plant. Wind energy can only be used in areas which experience high winds which mean that it cannot be used as a source to extract energy anywhere on earth. They sometimes create noise disturbances and cannot be used near residential areas. These disadvantages have made the use of wind energy to particular regions only.

Geothermal Energy
‘Geo’ means Earth and ‘thermal’ means energy. Geothermal energy means energy drawn or harnessed from beneath the Earth. It is completely clean and renewable. Geothermal energy has been in used since last several years. The earth contains a molten rock called magma. Heat is continuously produced from there. The temperature increases about 3 degrees Celsius, for every 100 meters you go below ground. Below, 10,000 meters the temperature is so high, that it can be used to boil water. Water makes its way deep inside the earth and hot rock boils that water. The boiling water then produces steam which is captured by geothermal heat pumps. The steam turns the turbines which in turn activates generators. Read more about working of Geothermal energy here.

Hydroelectric Energy
The energy of the moving water can be captured and called as hydroelectric power. Hydroelectric power stations capture the kinetic energy of moving water and give mechanical energy to turbines. The moving turbines then convert mechanical energy into electrical energy through generators. Dams around the world have been built for this purpose only. Hydropower is the largest producer of alternative energy in the world.

Biomass Energy
This is the process by which an alternative energy is generated through conversion of biological materials and wastes into forms that can be used as energy sources for heating, power generation and transportation. Those carbon based substances or materials converted over a long period of time to fossil fuels are not regarded as biomass.

Ocean Energy
Due to massive size of oceans, this energy can be used on much wider scale than other alternative sources of energy. The waves produced by the ocean and tides that hit the sea shore have enormous potential in them. If they are harnessed with full capacity they can go a long way in reducing world’s energy problems. There are 3 ways i.e. Tidal energy, Wave energy and Ocean thermal energy conversion (OTEC) via which ocean energy can be harnessed.

Hydrogen Energy
Hydrogen is the most abundant element available on earth but it is rarely alone. Even water contains two third of hydrogen. It is usually available with other elements and have to separated before we can make use of it. Hydrogen has tremendous potential and can be used to power up homes, vehicles and even space rockets. It takes a lot of energy to separate hydrogen from other elements and therefore it proves to quite expensive to extract it. Take a close look at hydrogen energy and see how it works.

Problems of Alternative Energy

The very first disadvantage that holds true for most of the alternative energies is that
1. their supply is dependent on nature and thus are not constant. For example, solar energy can be generated only at the areas that receive ample sunlight. For other areas that receive below moderate to little sunlight, solar energy would not be of much use.

Even for the areas with bright sunlight, solar energy can only be generated at daytime and not at nighttime. The same is the case with wind energy.
2. Generating electricity through wind farms is possible only at the countryside or other such areas where windmills can receive wind supply without any obstruction.

3. With hydroelectricity (or water energy), the situation fares better, because once electricity is generated at the dams the electricity can be drawn with wires and can be transported across miles.

4. Most forms of alternative energies require a certain type of system. This system is very different from the one that they use currently.

5. Efficiency of solar panels is generally low, around 10-15%. Therefore, for a good power supply, large surface area is required. For a household supply of let’s say 100KWHs, solar panels on at least 400 square meters of land are needed.

6. Wind energy is a clean fuel. However, it does cause significant amount of noise pollution.
7. Combustion of biomass produces carbon dioxide and similar greenhouse gases.
8. Biomass can only be produced only in certain seasons.
9. Hydropower (water energy) often damages the surrounding environment. Its impact on fish is well known. Levels of oxygen dissolved in the water also decreases due to damming.
It would be incorrect to say that disadvantages of alternative energy don’t exist. However, it would also be wrong to imply that fossil fuel is better than alternative energy. With people growing more concerned for the environment, alternative energy is gaining popularity. And as we incorporate the advantages more in our daily life, the disadvantages of alternative energy will slowly fade away.

# A story about someone who does something unusual, and who is disliked for it.
BABY CHAIN SMOKER
At the age of two he shocked the world after being pictured chain-smoking cigarettes. Two years on he's now a normal, cheeky five-year-old - and, while he's managed to kick the habit, he now has another addiction: food.

Aldi Rizal became an international media sensation when he was discovered in a poor village in Sumatra, Indonesia, puffing on a cigarette while riding his tricycle.
Toddler Aldi Rizal stunned (=surprised) the world when it was revealed he had a 40-a-day smoking habit but was two years old.
Now Aldi has picked up a new addiction - to food. His huge appetite has seen him gorge (=fill yourself with) on junk food and fatty snacks. The outcry led to the Indonesian government launching a campaign to tackle the problem of children smoking and organizing special rehabilitation treatment to help Aldi quit. Aldi was taken for play therapy sessions in the capital Jakarta for two weeks to take his mind off his 40-a-day habit and learn to be a normal toddler for the first time.
During his rehabilitation treatment, Aldi saw psychiatrists who encouraged his mother to keep him busy with playing and taught her about the dangers of smoking.
One of them - Dr Kak Seto - still sees Aldi and his family at regular intervals to ensure he is not falling back into old habits.
Aldi weighs nearly four stone (6.35 kg), double what he should be for a child his age, and medics have urged his mother to put her son on a diet.
'He would bang his head on the wall if he couldn't get what he wanted. That's why I get him cigarettes in the first place - because of his temper and his crying. 'Now I don't give him cigarettes, but he eats a lot. With so many people living in the house it's hard to stop him from getting food.'
It is thought one-third of children in Indonesia try smoking before the age of ten. The Government has launched efforts to tackle the problem.

Cooking Momo
Momo is a very famous dish in Nepal. Momo is believed to be brought in Nepal by Newar merchants in Kathmandu valley. After that it spread to whole country. It is almost a compulsory dish for any hotel in Nepal. It is so much popular among every age group. Here, I have presented the way to cook the momo at your own. It is not so difficult to prepare Momo at your house. You need very few things. Let's start with the ingredients:

Knead the flour into soft, fine dough, adding water as needed. Combine the other ingredients in a bowl and mix well. Pinch off balls of dough the size of an egg and flatten them on a floured surface. Hold a ball in your palm and place 1 tablespoon of filling in the center. Fold over the sides and use the other hand to squeeze the edges tightly to seal and make a little bite-sized bag.
Grease a steamer tray, place momos in it, and steam for 10 minutes. Serve with a mint or tomato chutney. Momos can also be enjoyed with other cold drinks or hard drinks. Go ahead, Give it a try! You won't regret.
